A little gentle practice at home, woven into your everyday routines, can help your child walk through our doors feeling confident, capable, and excited to learn.

Here are a few simple kindergarten readiness tips our Phoenix families can use in the weeks before school starts.

Practice Bathroom Routines

One of the most helpful things you can do before kindergarten starts is help your child practice using the restroom independently. That includes washing hands, managing buttons and zippers, and tucking in their shirt afterward. When children can handle these routines on their own, they feel proud, and they spend less time worrying and more time learning and playing.

Build Little Independence Skills

Small moments of independence add up to big confidence in the classroom. Before the first day, practice opening snacks and lunch containers, packing and unpacking a backpack, putting items away, tying shoes, and carrying small items on their own. These everyday routines help children feel more confident, capable, and ready to move through the school day.
