On Thursday, February 9, 2017 the fifth grade students will be participating in “Patriot’s Day” as a part of the “Why America is Free” curriculum. This day is a re-enactment of the life and times of colonial citizens. It includes all day school activities as well as a short evening event.
Students will participate in a variety of colonial activities including needle point, food preparation, colonial games, sewing, hornbooks, military formations, corn husk doll craft, a colonial exhibit, and a colonial dance. Parents are invited to attend the colonial exhibit and dance at 2:30 p.m. in the gym.
Patriot’s Day is a unique experience for our fifth grade students, and the result has always been gratifying. Students gain a deeper appreciation and knowledge of our country’s heritage. This would not be possible without the hard work from our teachers and the amazing support and effort from our parents. We are looking forward to this year’s Patriot’s Day. If you would like to participate, please contact Mr. Coley at firstname.lastname@example.org.
