Volunteer Oportunities

On a daily basis, volunteers truly make wonderful things happen at ATA and we appreciate our volunteers. To volunteer for the PTO, please email us at pto@atachoice.org or come to our next PTO meeting. You can download the Volunteer Handbook here, which explains in greater detail about volunteering at the school.

ATA Volunteering Time Sheet
ATA tracks volunteer logs for many reasons. First of all, volunteer hours are used when applying for grants. The number of volunteers is also reported in the school’s annual audit. In addition, the teachers use this information to help them prepare for their annual Volunteer Appreciation event.

The PTO is responsible for monthly tracking and reporting of volunteer hours in all capacities including school, site council, classroom and PTO to the school administration.

There is a binder in the school office that contains all of the volunteer hours and extra time sheets. You can also download a Volunteer Time Sheet. Periodically, the PTO will ask that you send in your time sheet so we can tally the hours as the year progresses.

Volunteer Clearance Cards
While volunteering at ATA, if you would like to help with one-on-one testing or be in the classroom with students when the teacher is not present, you must have a yellow Volunteer Clearance Card. If you would like to get a yellow card, follow one of the two options below.

Option 1:
If you already have a Fingerprint Clearance Card from the State of Arizona, you have what you need to volunteer at ATA. We just need to keep a record of it and make you a yellow Volunteer Clearance Card.

  1. Copy the front and back of your Fingerprint Clearance Card
  2. Copy the front and back of a government-issued ID (driver’s license, etc.)
  3. Download the Contact information  and fill it out.
  4. Include $1 for the badge.
  5. Give all these things to the front office, or drop them off directly to the PTO office.
  6. We will send your card home with your child.

Option 2:
If you do not have a Fingerprint Clearance Card, you will need to be fingerprinted. Please stop by the PTO office or ATA Business Office and pick up a fingerprint packet.

  1. Fill out the fingerprint card exactly like the sample, and get your fingerprints taken at the ATA Business Office.
  2. Copy the front and back of a government-issued ID (driver’s license, etc.)
  3. Download the ORI Clearance form and fill it out.
  4. Bring the fingerprint card, copy of ID, form, and a check for $22 (for the background check, made payable to ATA) to the front office.
  5. The school will run a background check and let the PTO know if you are cleared for a yellow Volunteer Clearance Card.
  6. Please give $1 for the Volunteer Clearance Badge to the front office or someone in the PTO office.
  7. We will send your card home with your child.
